Spectrum of Structural Abnormalities in FIOpPy Mitral Valve Echocardiographic Evaluation
MOHAMED M..ELMARAGHI;
Abstract
Echocardiography was used to identify the frequency of structural abnormalities in the mitral valve apparatus in patients with mitral valve prolapse. The study included 30 patients with primary MVP syndrome and 10 normal subjects as a control group .
Results have shown that the MVP group had increased anterior mitral leaflet mid thickness &marginal thickness, posterior leaflet thickness , posterior leaflet length , anterior
&posterior chordal length and annular dian1eter ,(P<0.05). It
was also found that mitral regurgitation occured more frequently &more severe in patients with multiple &more severe anatomic abnormalities and those patients had greater midanterior leaflet thickness, posterior leaflet thickness, anterior leaflet length & annular diameter.
