Abstract
Egypt and similar arid countries suffer from shortage in wood-raw materials, which are necessary for several industrial uses, therefore they depend mainly on the imported woods. The current shortage and price increase created keen interest in exploring the possibility of utilizing wood of the available windbreak and shelterbelt. Furthennore, the country has focused attention especially during the last three decades, on establishing forest plantations to meet the acute needs for wood in Egypt (Abou-Gazia et. al., 1992; El Osta and Megahed 1992, and El Osta et. al., 1992).
