Performance Analysis and Enhancement of Optical Interconnection Networks for High Performance Supercomputers
Ahmad Muhammad Ahmad Mahany;
Abstract
In this chapter, a performance evaluation is done for the IBM blue gene /q compute chip using ENoC and WDM-PNoC. Taking all together, the results presented in this chapter shows that WDM-PNoC architecture achieved an av- erage improvement of 50% in terms of the network latency and 40% in terms of the energy consumption.
Also, in this chapter, the proposed enhanced WDM-PNoC is evaluated. Through a series of simulation experiments, it is noted that the modified energy-efficient WDM-PNoC achieved an energy improvement of 40% in terms of the energy consumption.
Moreover, the proposed dynamically allocated WDM-PNoC remarkably im- proved the network latency and the power consumption of the PowerPC A2 chip which will remarkably improves the IBM blue gene /q supercomputer processing capabilities.
