Abstract
SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION
C
ancer of pancreas is the 4th most common cause of cancer related mortality worldwide.
With limitations in the treatment of advanced pancreatic cancer, the main and only hope for improved patient survival and potential cure lies in early detection of the tumor when complete surgical resection is feasible. Therefore, pancreatic cancer still one of the greatest challenges in the fight against cancer in the 21st century.
The early diagnosis of the pancreatic cancer is so difficult. As pancreatic cancer typically develops with few symptoms in the early stage and there are not many specific.
MDCT with contrast techniques have a key role in the characterization of pancreatic lesions, initial staging, surgical and therapeutic planning.
MDCT also can detect the hepatic metastases, lymph node involvement and vascular involvement by the tumor which is essential for preoperative assessment.
CT can also detect a significant proportion of asymptomatic pancreatic cancers in patient underdoing investigations for other reasons.
