Intracoronary Stenting Versus Balloon Angioplasty for Treatment of Isolated Proximal Left Anterior Descending Coronary Artery Disease A Comparative Study Using Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography
Hisham Hussein Mohammed;
Abstract
• Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty is more effective in improving symptoms and the quality of life than medical treatment in patients with single vessel coronary artery disease (Parisi et al., 1992) but restenosis of the treated segment limit the long term benefit of coronary balloon angioplasty (Hirshfeld et aL, 1991). Primary stent implantation results in lower risk of restenosis in large vessels and less frequent need for subsequent intervention than does PTCA. (Serruys et al 1994, Fischman et al
1994).
1994).
