EARLY REHABILITATION AFTER ACUTE MYOCARDIAL INFACTION: PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL BENEFITS

Abstract


Cardiac rehabilitation with supervised exercise training has been shown to be a useful components of comprehensive management of patients having myocardial infarction. The change in the lifestyle may prevent coronary heart disease and may play a good role in secondary prevention. Physical activity brings psychological qenefits, it reduce feeling of depression and anxiety, improve mood and promotes a feeling of well-being.


Our study aimed at the evaluation of the benefits or hazards of physical training starting early after myocardial infarction on physical and
psychological status of the patients.


Thirty patients were randomized into two group, each of 15 patients. Group A was randomized to participate in early cardiac rehabilitation program and the other 15 patients served as control (Group B).

In patients of Group A, the heart rate and blood pressure were measured before and after the exercise and on the erect position.


All patients in the study were subjected to:


- Echocardiography before predischarge test .
