Study of the Effect of Body Iron Status and Antioxidant Taurine on Different Types of Human Haemoglobins and Blood Parameters of Iron Deficient and B - Thalassaemia Subjects.
Mahmoud "Mohammed Sufyan" Mahmoud Sirdah;
Abstract
J3-thalassaemia and iron deficiency anaemia are a worldwide disorders, however, they constitute a major public health problems in the Gaza strip where the present study was done. These disorders represent a socio-economic problem on the community and on the health authority as well. However, in Gaza strip, there is an increase awareness about these disorder at different levels including governmental and the public sectors.
Although that the thalassaemia is an inherited disorder and the iron deficiency is a nutritional one, the two disorders are interdependent and interfere at some points, the most of which is the differential diagp.osis of the two disorders. Furthermore, the two disorders are associated with a decreased. antioxidant levels which is expected to play a significant role in the progression and complications of both diseases. Therefore, the present study was designed for the Gaza strip population, and aimed at the investigation of the possible haematological and biochemical effects of the body iron status and the antioxidant taurine in iron deficient and J3- thalassaemia subjects.
After the formal consent and approval of the project by the zoology department council at Cairo university, the biology department council and the faculty of science council at Al-Azhar university Gaza, the male (M) and female (F) students of the scientific and medical faculties at AI Azhar University-Gaza were informed and invited to participate in• the study. In addition, bloosamples were collected from J3-thalassaemia patients from the Palestinian thalassaemia center.
