EFFECT OF SOME•VETERINARY TETRACYCLINE AND ENROFLOXACIN COMPOUNDS ON • ' FERTI_LITY PARAMETERS OF •.FEMALE BUSCAT RABBITS

Abstract

The experimental design of the present study was divided into two successive parts, a) to study the effect of treatment with either oxytetracycline (50 mgl kg body weight) or enrofloxacin (25 mg/ kg body weight) on some physiological parameters as well as the reproductive performance of female Bouscat rabbits, and b) to study the effect of both treatments on the productive (growth) performance of growing rabbits. Regarding the adult doe Bouscat rabbits, the physiological parameters studied were: blood cell count, hemoglobin concentration, packed cell volume, total protein and protein fractions, serum enzyme activities of liver and kidney as well as honnonal assessment. The reproductive traits studied were: doe traits (number of mating, conception rate, gestation length, litter size, and litter weight) and milk yield, as well as offspring traits (bunny weight, litter weight gain and pre­ weaning viability %). Regarding the growing Bouscat rabbits, the productive (growth) parameters studied were: weight gain, food intake and food conversion, post-weaning viability% and economic efficiency
