Abstract


Critical care nursmg ts the most labored intensive service ami high-• hudgl't dcpartinctit. these critical care department needs lo monitor costs in order to decrease expenditure.
- The environment of health care has seen and will continue to see

a period of rapid change ad evolution. This changing environment put a great emphasis on i.ncreased productivity among different health care institutions and increase the financial pressure on hospitals. This pressure will be felt greatly in the department of nursing services, whic:h the largest single department in the hospital.
- The study aimed lo cost out nursing services for Ml patient in crilkal care department at Elmanial utiiversity Hospital, as well as estimating the nursing staff and its mix to staff the unit caring for Ml patients for the three shins.
- Subject of the study:-

The study included two groups of subjects. The first group included sixty Ml patients were admitted to critical care department during a period of four months and the second group consisted of sixty five of nurses, fourteen of them were B.Sc. nurses working as head nurses and tifty one of them were diploma nurses.
- Tools of the study:-

- Three tools were used for data collection. The first tool was nursing activities lime sheet to estimate the amount oflime that nurses devote to various activities.
