ENAS ADEL ABD AL-LATEF AFIFI;

Abstract

The present investigation dealt with the study of using some non-conventional methods for controlling various potato pests in Egypt, representing North Africa.

It covered the following points:

1. Survey of pests attacked potato plants [the white fly, aphids and the potato tuber moth] in the field for two successive Nili plantations in 2001 and 2002.

2. Application of cultural practices such as early, recommended and late planting dates on the infestation rates of the white fly, aphids and the potato tuber moth and the effect of low recommended and high fertilization rates on the infestation by
aphids.

3. Use of non-conventional pesticides for controlling the white fly, aphids and PTM by using mineral and botanical oils, microbial insecticides (fungal and bacterial) in addition to
recommended insecticides.
