Abstract

This study was performed to evaluate the effect of prosthetic loading on atrophic anterior edentulous mandibular ridge which had been previously remodeled with vertical distraction osteogenisis. Seven completely endentulous male patients were selected from oral surgery department fifteen days post distractor removal. Those patients had been previously subjected to vertical distraction ostegenesis using vertical distractor (Martin, tack 1.5mm) in order to compensate the alveolar bone which have been resorbed and to overcome the several problems which face those patients. Some of those irreversible problems were poor foundation for prosthestic treatment including conventional denture or implant placement, also TM.J problems were very noted in those patients.

Fifteen days post distractor removal, conventional complete dentures with acrylic, semi anatomical mandibular post teeth were constructed. Fitting surface of each mandibular denture was lined at time of insertion in
'
a prepared room with side chair type soft liner to minimize the ambunt of

masticatory forces transmitted to the distracted area.

The effect of using denture on the distracted area have been carefully observed including height, width gained and density changes at distracted
