ROL£ Of ANTIOXIDANTS IN MYOCARDIAL ISCHEMIA

Naglaa Yehia Ali Ibrahim Nafeh;

Abstract

In well devloped counteries, myocardial infarction is responsible for high precent of death, it accounts for 80% of cardiac mortality. It was found that 02 free radicals contribute to ischemic myocardial damage and affect electeric properties of cellular membrane.

The aim of this work was to investigate the role of vitamin C and vilamine E in the protection aganist isopemalin induced myocardial injury.

In this work adult albino rats of coth sexes weighing l50-200gm were used, these animals were classified into 3 main groups.

* The first group

Which is the control, it was injected isoprcnalin to induce myocardial infarction at adose 75 mg/kgm inlrapcrotcnial.

*The 2nd group

Which was injected vit- E at 2 different doses subcutanously

5mg/kgm,20mg!kgm/day for one month befor isoprenalin injection.

*The 3rd group

Which was injected vit C at 2 different doses intramuscularly

0.5mg/kg, 2mglkgm/day for one month before injection of isoprenalin.

The parameters used to evaluate the inf 1rction wcre,T.wave voltage, T. wave area, senun C.P.K and infarction size. The E.C.G. was recorded befor injection ofisoprenalin ant at 5,15,30,60,120 minutes after injection of isoprenalin. The senun C.P.K. and infarction size were estimated at
2houres after injection of isoprenalin.
