Abstract

Background: several studies using various methods have been conductedto evaluate the uterine scar thickness and asses risk of uterine rupture.
Objective: to evaluate the uterine scar thickness by 3D Ultrasonographyin primigravid randomly assigned to one or two layer closure of the uterine incision after primary cesarean delivery.
Patients and methods: our study was conducted on 56 patients admitted for elective primary CS. 28 patients underwent CS using double-layer closure of the uterus and 28 patients using single-layer closure of the uterus. 3D ultrasound were done later on to evaluate the residual myometrial thickness.
Results and conclusion: Data from the present study demonstrated that the myometrial thickness is significantly higher in double-layer closure of uterus than single-layer closure as obtained by 3D ultrasound(p-value < 0.01)
