Abstract

This study compared nonnal saline 0.9% to haes-steril 6% and haemagcl
I colloid s lutions as rcgardig acid-base change after infusion in patic ts undergoing open abdominal surgeries. 60 patients were randomized to rcceivc!nonnal saline
.
o.9% or haes-steril 6% or haemagel for a duration of 2-3 hours. Hemodynamic

monitoring revealed significant increase in mean arterial blood pressure in hacs steril1 6% Sr<;)UP with .no significant change in heart rate in any group. As regarding fluid Oalance, central venous pressure significantly increased in.haes-steril 6% group
1 with i ifieflnt increase in urine output with nonnal saline 0.9% group. Qilutional
acidosis had l>een resulted with all groups after end of therapy but significantly in normal stlinc b.9% group in comparison to other groups.

In conclusion.nonnal saline 0:9%, haes-s1cril 6% and haeguigcl are considered safe on acid•basc balance if given within normal dosage. Haes-stcril 6% and haemage are more safe •as regarding decrease significant ionic difference that occurredj_ with normal saline 0.9% and haemngel is the most safe as regarding it significaftly dilutes bicarbonate in comparison with normal saline 0.9% and hacs- steril6%. 1
