UTILIZATION OF SOME BIODEGRADABLE MATERIALS FOR WATER TREATMENT IN SOME STEAM POWER PLANTS
Nesrin Abdel Raheem Khalil Ali;
Abstract
This work deals with the synthesis of soluble cationic alginate and cationic chitosan having Quaternary amino groups by the reaction of both alginate and chitosan with 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl triethylammonium chloride (CTAC) . The produced cationized chitosan and alginate were characterized by FT-IR, Thermogravimetric analysis TGA, and elemental analyse (C,H,N,S) . CC and CA were prepared in the nanoscale and characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The adsorption efficiency of (CC) for metal ions in water such as Fe3+, Cu2+, Ni2+ , and The adsorption efficiency of (CA) for metal ions as (Fe3+, Cu2+, Cd2+, Ni2+, Co2+, Mn2+, and Zn2+) were determined using atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) . A field study was also performed on two water chitosan, samples obtained from West Cairo Zone using each of CC , CA alone or mixed with alum in the different proportions . The efficiencies towards the removal of turbidity and some heavy metal ions of some industrial water in power plants were compared .
