Summary:
Performance evaluation studies over α - µ fading channel is the thesis objective. Such studies involve performance metric as average symbol error, outage probability, ergodic capacity, and average transmission rate. Closed-form expressions for the Shannon capacity operating over different adaptive transmission techniques under selection combining are obtained. Performance of two dual-branch diversity (selection combiner and switch and stay combiner) in presence of a dominant co-channel interference is studied. Switch-and-examine combining diversity is evaluated with respect to average symbol error rate and ergodic capacity. Performance of the secondary users when using an optimized adaptive threshold assuming energy detection based spectrum sensing system subject to confining the average interference to the primary users within a target level is studied.
