Abstract
!n the early 1900s, mortality from spinal cord injury (SCI) was approximately 50%. Since the, there has been a steady decline to approximately less than 60%. Despite this improvement in overall mortality, little progress has been made toward reducing the devasting outcome to the patient suffering the neurologic consequences of acute spinal cord injury (ASCI).
