Comparative Studies on Growth , Flowering and Yield of Some Globe Artichoke Cultivars (Cynara scolymus L.)

Abstract
Tills study was earned out at National Research Center (N.R.C.) Experimental Station,Giza Governorate during the two successive seasons
1994-1995 and 1995-1996. Three seeded artichoke cultivars, i.e. Imperial Star,Green Globe and Large Green were compared with the local cultivar (Balady) as a standard cultivar. The seeds of the three seeded artichoke cultivars were imported from California and the seeds ofBalady cultivar were obtained from the Strawberry and non-Traditional Horticultural Crops Research Station, South Tahreer, Behera Governorate.
Data were recorded on vegetative growth characteristics, head parameters, early and total yield, some chemical components, cynarin and inulin contents.
