Correlation between Choroidal Thickness using Enhanced Depth Imaging OCT and Visual Acuity in Dry Type AMD in Egyptian Population

Ahmed Ali Ibrahim Metwally;

Abstract

This is a cross sectional study evaluating the subfoveal choroidal thickness in AMD eyes with good VA (group A) and Bad VA (group B) including 30 eyes divided into two groups, full medical history and Full ocular examination was done to all patients.
Macular choroidal thickness measurement was done by ' EDI-O.C.T ' Via Measuring subfoveal Choroidal thickness manually with a ruler included into the device's software application (NIDEK-RS 3000 OCT Retina scan advance).
SubFoveal Choroidal Thichness measurements showed that there was highly statistically significant decrease in group B than group A .
We correlated between Age and Subfoveal choroidal thickness in two groups. The average Subfoveal choroidal thickness decreased linearly with age with highly statistical significant difference.
Also, in correlation between sex and subfoveal choroidal thickness we did not find any statistical significant effect to the sex on the thickness.
A positive correlation between subfoveal choroid thickness and best corrected visual acuity was seen showing
