Abstract


Ovarian cysts are one of the commonest problems . encountered in the gynecological field. Fortunately the majority of these cysts are functional i.e. disappear spontaneously within three to six months.


This essay discusses briefly the anatomy, the embryology, the histology and the physiology of thovary. It also discusses the different types of ovarian cysts and their pathophysiology History, clinical examination and investigations also play an important role in determining the method of treatment of the

The diagnostic accuracy of transvaginal ultrasound and colored doppler lead to the development of several scoring systems in a trial to predict the nature of the encountered
cysts using non invasive techniques.
However, the final decision in determining i
