Abstract
Evaluation of hepatitis B vaccine in children.
The duration of protection given by the hepatitis B vaccine in children 5 years post vaccination was evaluated.Methods:134 vaccinated children in the age of 6 years who received the hepatitis B vaccine as routine immunization and 77 controls, seru11 was tested for HbsAg,anti-HBc,anti-HBs using ELISA technique. Results:Seroprotection rate
68% ,mean anti-HBs 61.42m1Ulml in the vaccinated children. The vaccine has a good efficacy but in the long term the titre of anti-HBs declines and a booster dose is recommended.
