LIGHT- INDUCED REACTIONS ON TiO2 SURFACES
HODA MOHAMED REFAAT GALAL;
Abstract
Light-induced reactions of some orgamc dyes and compounds of potential industry and food applications that are adsorbed on surfaces ofnanoparticales ofTi02 have been recently studied.
In this thesis, we focus on the study of photochemical reactions of two important compounds adsorbed on the surface of Ti02.
Phenolic acids are a group of dietory phytochemicals (friendly chemical family), that act as antioxidants, flavorings and possess disease-preventive properties. Phenolic acids are also currently being investigated in different intesvational laboratories for their ability to suppress tumor development.
Caffeic acid (CA) [3,4-Dihydroxycinnamic acid] is one of the important phenolacid present in fruit products (apple, pear, grapes) and juices, leaves of tea and in coffee.
Moreover, Ponceau S (PoS) that has medical applications in staining protein membranes on cellulose acetate will be studied.
This thesis consists of three chapters:
Chapter I deals with a general introduction of the subject and a literature review was given.
In chapter 2 the experimental procedures and instrumentation used are present.
We have used the following spectroscopic methods for following up the photostability processes.
