Abstract
This study was designed to study the relationship between pulmonary gas exchange and quality oflife in left ventricular failure patients. This study was conducted on sixty male patients with left ventricular systolic
. dysfunction, NYHA class II&III. Patients were randomly selected from National Heart Institute, outpatient clinic.LVF was due to ischaemic dilated cardiomyopathy and idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy. The mean age was
57.24±4.45 (range: 45-67) years and the mean value of LVEF was
38.91±2.69% (range: 35-44). Patients underwent cardiopulmonary exercise testing and completed the MLHFQ over a 1-yearperiod. The mean duration ofleft ventricular failure was (9.33±4.67 inonths).
