CLINICAL EVALUATION OF FREE ANTEROLATERAL THIGH FLAP IN THE RECONSTRUCTION OF MAJOR SOFT TISSUE DEFECTS IN THE LEG AND FOOT
Ehab Fouad Moustafa Zayed;
Abstract
In this study, we have transferred 22 free anterolateral thigh fiap (ALTF) for reconstruction of challenging soft tissue defects in the leg and foot. All patients were admitted to the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Unit, Tanta University Hospitals in the period from November 1995 to May 2000.
There is no doubt that the broad versatility of the micrcwascular technology in providing reconstructive solutions that approach our shared ideals of esthetic, form and function. Although it is difficult to overly criticize the use of original flaps that have an excellent track, we believe that free tissue transfer allows for extension of reconstructive objectives far beyond the singular requirement for wound closure.
