Abstract


The salivary glands are very important organs that share in most biological functions, so our aim of the present study is to investigate the effect of interferon alpha-2b on the major salivary glands of the albino rats.. f

ln the present study we choose 30 albino rats and were divided into three groups:
Group I: composed of ten rats were injected subcutaneously three times per week with sterile distilled water. And five of them were sacrificed after 4 weeks and other 5 animals were sacrificed after 12 weeks.
Group II: consist of 10 rats and receive 50.000 IU/k gm of RhuiFN-a 2b in 0. 5 ml of sterile distilled water were injected subcutaneously three times per week. And sacrificed after 4 weeks to show the early changes after administration of lFNs.
Group Ill: consist of 10 rats and received the same dose of the drug of group II and were sacrificed after 12 weeks to show the late changes after administration of IFNs.
