HEPATITIS C VIRUS INFECTION IN PATIENTS WITH SYSTEMIC LUPUS ERYTHEMATOSUS
Khaled Fathy El-Hasanein Badawy;
Abstract
Systemic lupus erythematosus ( SLE ) is a multisystem connective tissue disease characterized by both humoral and cellular immunological disorders ; with the presence of numerous auto-antibodies , circulating immune complexes and wide spread immunologically determined tissue damage.
Hepatitis C virus ( HCV ) infection has been associated with multiple autoimmune manifestations . The.
1mmune response to HCV infection includes the development of autoantibodies 1mmune complex formation and deposition together with cryoglobulinemia complicated by vasculitis and glomerulonephritis . HCV infection has been associated with antiphospholipid syndrome , RA, SLE, PMIDM and thyroiditis.
So we carried out this study to evaluate the pattern of
HCV infection in Egyptian patients with SLE and its effect on activity of the disease .
