Value of Dobutamine Stress EChocardiography for Detection of coronary Artery Diseasein Potients with left Bundle Bronch Block
Neven Moustafa Mohammed;
Abstract
Left bundle branch block is a recognized predictor of unfavorable cardiac out comes and is associated with coronary artery disease, hypertension, idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy, and aortic stenosis.
It was found that LBBB patients are of increased risk of cardiac mortality and it is more frequently due to CAD so aortic stenosis and dilated cardiomyopathy was excluded from this study.
Non invasive evaluation of myocardial ischemia has important clinical implications. Unfortunately, exercise induced electrocardiographic changes are non-diagnostic, reversible perfusion defects have low diagnostic specificity in LBBB and thallium - 20 I scan has high percentage of false positive results. So stress echocardiography is a well - established tool for risk stratification of subjects with
known or suspected coronary artery disease.
