Role Of Diagnostic And Imaa;ing Modalities In Assessment Of Bone Density •
Marwa Omar fathy;
Abstract
Bone mineral analysis plays an important role in both the detection and management of osteoporosis and other forms ofmetablic bone disease. Accurate assessment of bone mineral status is important in the correct choice of a clinical management strategy. Precise measurements, which can detect gradual bone density changes in a timely fashion, are required for determining the appropriateness and effectiveness of treatment. The concept of bone density measurement, particularly as applied to screening for osteoporosis, has recently been challenged by the internal medicine community owing in part to the suboptimal nature of existing methods. The most widely used fo these methods currently include SPA, DPA, and quantitative CT.
