Abstract

Cytomegalovirus virus (CMV) which initially isolated from patients with congenital cytomegalic inclusion disease is now recognized as an important pathogen in all age groups. In addition to inducing severe birth defects, CMV causes wide spectrum of disorders in older children and adults, ranging from an asymptomatic subclinical infection to a mononucleosis syndrome in healthy individuals to disseminated disease in the immunocompromised. There are different Ig c!asses of anti CMV antibody that CMV specific IgM, lgA and IgG as detected by ELISA in serum patients. A primary CMV infection serologically demonstrated by the appearance of specific IgM & IgG specific IgA appeared at the same time as IgM.

CMV occurs in up to 80% of renal transplant patients. Most of these infections are asymptomatic. However CMV is most commen pathogen causing clinical disease in these patients.

The aim of our work is to find out and signify the presence of anti CMV-IgM, IgG antibodies in the patients with chronic renal failure before and after renal transplantation using the ELISA technique. We studied haemoglobin, PCV and serUTJcreatinine levels, also about urine we studied protein, RBCs and Pus cells. Thirty five patients were studied in this work
