Role Of Multislice CT Virtual Gastroscopy In Assessment Of Gastric Tumors

Abstract

ABSTRACT
MDCT with virtual gastroscopy (VG) is an emerging technique in radiology developed in the last decades. VG is a non-invasive procedure that uses 3D and MDCT to capture detailed pictures of the inside surfaces of organs (e.g. organs of the gastrointestinal tract). Gastric cancer is one of the most common causes of death from cancer worldwide. The screening program has shown an increased incidence of EGC. Surgical resection is needed to treat EGC if endoscopic resection is not possible. MDCT is currently an indispensable technique for the preoperative staging of gastric cancer. It is possible using only VG with MPR images to precisely evaluate the depth of invasion in a lot of lesions.
