Abstract


Rights give the human dignity and protection. If the human has a right to something, the human can insist on this something without embarrassment or fear.Patients' rights considered of fundamental importance and preexisting recognition by positive law (Annas, 2004). The movement for patients' rights has been a reflection of the central place given to the implementation of the concept of respect for the human being on the one hand, and of the concept of respect of quality in health on the other (Carmi & Wax, 2002). Respect for patients' rights is a key aspect of the quality of care and has a direct bearing on out comes as well. Priority Focus Area (PFA) (JCAHO, 2004).
The aim of this study is to investigate the perception of patient’s rights and responsibilities from the point of view of healthcare providers and patients in two studied hospitals: - Nasser Institute Hospital & Demerdash hospital through:- Assessing the perception of the patients in the two hospitals regarding their rights and responsibilities. Assessing the perception of healthcare providers in the two hospitals regarding patients' rights and responsibilities and Comparing the perception of the patients versus healthcare providers in both hospitals regarding patients' rights and responsibilities.
A comparative cross-sectional analytic design were utilized and it was conducted at the Nasser Institute Hospital &AL-Demerdash Hospital. It involved 100 staff nurses, 12
