Abstract

North Dineibit EL-Quleib area which lies to the NE of Wadi Allaqi in the South Eastem Desert of Egypt (s geologically mapped 011 scale of 1:40 000. It is found to be occupied by gueisses, ophiolitic melange, metasediments, metavolcanics, and granitoids. The gneisses are biotite gneisses sometimes include muscovite. These considered to be the oldest rock domain in the area (the infi'astructure). ll1e ophiolitic melange rocks consists of discontinuous slabs (blocks) ofse!pentinites. metagabbros. mnphibolites, metavolcanics and marbles within a fine grained schistose matrix of metasediments. The metasedimentmy rocks cover the greater part of the mapped area and identified into schists, phyllites, metasiltstones, metaconglomerates, marbles and quartz bands. The metavolcanics are represented by amphibolites, metabasaltic andesites, metadacites, and lit!lic metatu.ffs. The granitoids are
• represented in the area by the older granites and the younger granites both

that intruded most of the above mentioned lithologies. Chemical analysis shOJVs that both the two grauite domains are of calc-alkaliue character. The metam01phic rocks at Dineibit El-Quleib area are polyphase deformed (and probably polymetam01phosed). Structural studies reveal that the area was subjected to at least three phases of deformation. The structural features of the (DJ- D j) deformatioual phase are characterized and the structural
