Abstract


This study was carried out on the Rosetta branch of the River Nile to follow the effects of pollution (toxic chemicals) at Kafr El-Zayat industrial area on the distribution and productivity of phytoplankton during the period
from August 1994 till July 1995.

Four stations were selected for this study.

Station I , Five hundred meters north of Salt and Soda company.

Station II, at the drain of the company of salt and soda production which directly pours in the River Nile.
Station III, at the drain of the company of sulphuric acid production which directly pours in the River Nile.
Station IV, five hundred metres south of sulphuric acid company.
