IMPROVING AN INTEGRATED PROGRAMME FOR MANAGEMENT SCALE INSECTS AND MEALYBUGS ON MANGO TREES IN EGYPT

Abstract

1. Survey of the scale insects and mealybugs species and their associated natural enemies on mango trees. 1.1. El- Fayoum Governorate. Six species of scale insects and one mealybug species were recorded on mango trees during two seasons 2013- 2014 and 2014- 2015. These species; Kilifia acuminata (Sign.), Aulacaspis tubercularis (Newstead), Ceroplastes floridensis Comstock, Coccus hespridum Linnaeus, Chloropulvinaria psidii (Maskell) and Lepidosaphes pallidula (Maskell), while one mealybug specie was recorded, Icerya seychellarum (Westwood). Three parasitoids species were recorded, Encarsia citrine Craw, Metaphycus flavus Compere, Habrolepis aspidioti (Compere & Annecke). In the same time, five predators species were recorded, Rodalia cardinalis (Mulsant), Cryptolaemus montrouzieri Mulsant, Exochomus flavipes (Thunberg), Chrysopa sp. and Chrysoperlla carnae (Steph) in Fayoum Governorate. 1.2. Ismaleia Governorate. Seven species of scale insects namely Kilifia acuminata (Signoret), Ceroplastes floridensis Comstock, Chloropulvinaria psidii (Maskell), Aulacaspis tubercularis (Newstead), Aonidiella aurantii (Maskell), Lepidosaphes pallidula (Maskell), Hemiberlesia lataniae (Signoret) and one mealybug, Icerya seychellarum (Westwood) were recorded in Ismaleia during seasons 2013- 2014 and 2014- 2015. AS well as, four parasitoids species associated scale insects and mealybugs were ; Metaphycus flavus (Haward), Encarsia citrine Craw, Aphytis lepidosaphes Compere and Habrolepis aspidioti ( Compere & Annecke) and six predators namely; Rodalia cardinalis (Mulsant), Scymnus syriacus (Marseul), Cryptolaemus montrouzieri Mulsant, Coccinella undecimpunctata L., Chilocorus bipustulatus (Linnaeus) and predator mite Hemisarcoptes coccophagus (Meyer). 1.3.
