GEOCHEMISTRY AND MINERALOGY OF SOME . RADIOACTIVE PEGMATITES, ABU ZAWAL AREA, EASTERN DESERT, EGYPT
ATEF ABDELAZIZ EL NAHAS;
Abstract
Wadi Abu Zawal area locates m the Central Eastern Desert 1
I
and is generally bound by the latitudes 26° 351 and 25°451 Nandi the longitudes 33°101 and 33°301E.
The work aimed to investigate the petrographic and
I
geochemical characteristics• of Abu Zawal radioactive pegmatites
. I
'
and their granitic country rocks, in addition to the mineralogical
i
and radiometric characteristics of these pegmatites.
The Abu Zawal pegmatites associate and embedded in th
'
granitic and granodioritic rocks in the area, neverthless one f
'
these pegmatites locates on the border line between granites ruid
I
metavolcanics. The detailed petrographic investigations of Aq'u
I
Zawal pegmatites and their associated rocks are portrayed.
Granodiorites m Wadi Abu Zawal exhibit gradatio al
contacts with the granites. Quartz diorites
in Wadi Abu Shiliat
I
form the south-eastern corner of the studied area. I
I
The essential minerals forming granodiorites are
'
plagioclases, K-feldspars, quartz and green amphibole in addition
I
I
to biotite. Modally thev range from typical granodiorite; to
monzogranites.
