Abstract


The purpose of this study is to examine the psychology of the adolescent in selected short stories of Sherwood Anderson. The thesis is supported by psychological studies in an attempt to understand the nature of the adolescent. The study points out how Anderson’s psychological understanding helps him to delve deeply into the minds of his adolescent protagonists to reveal their conflicts, insecurities and anxieties as well as their struggle to achieve a sense of identity and understand the complexities of the world of adults.
