Abstract


The present research is a reader-response study of selected short stories of Nathaniel Hawthorne. The study is concerned with the Reader-Response theory focusing on Wolfgang Iser, a German critic and his concept of indeterminacy and the role of the reader in the reading process to grasp a specific meaning of a literary text which stimulates the reader into using his ideas in order to accomplish the meaning of the text.
