Abstract

Testing the effect of four paw extracts namely Datum. Rive-red gum, Limon scented spotted gum and Oshar and one fungicide, Tolclofos-methyl, on linear fun¬gal growth of four soil borne disease fungi; Alacrophomino phaseolina, Sclerotium rolfsii, Fusarium oxysorwn and Rhiroctonia solani-main causes of root rot, damp¬ing off., blights and wilt diseases to members of solanaceae and other families-showed that percentage of growth reduction increased gradually with the increase of plant extract concentrations. Data also showed that Datum extract followed by Liaison scented spotted gum and Toiclofos-methyl, fungicide (100 % inhibition), gave maximum reduction in growth at maximum ppm concentration for the four tested fungi. 1c50, 100, slope, relative potency and toxicity index were calculated. Phytochernical screening, bioassay technique and infrared spectioscopy of the used plant extracts were also carried out.
