Abstract


a total of 78 species of arthropods were recorded in this study comprising 24 species belong too zooplankton ,9 large ecoaomically important crustacean species. 3 a harmful insects and 15 beneficial insects species in lake Qarun and its surroundings Zooplankton is useful as food for bigger fish , mammals and lake birds .Harmful insects species collected belong to 8 orders and 26 families .they are either economically important attacking crops and vegetables or of medical importance attacking people their life stock . Useful insects either act as predators or parasites on those harmful species . Synchronization was recorded between these pest and their natural enemies . The lake receives water from drainages and streams , which increase its salinity and pollution and that ultimately would be harmful to the biodiversity of the lake .
