Abstract


Aim: to assess the effect of breast cancer on women’s quality of life Design: A descriptive study design was used.. Setting: The study was conducted in the National Cancer Institute of Egypt.(Cairo oncology institute) Sampling: The study was conducts on 100 women with breast cancer .. Tool: Data are collected using 1.Interview questionnaire sheet, 2.Female sexual function index, and 3.Function assessment of cancer therapy scale. Results have shown that the majority of the studied women have unsatisfactory knowledge regarding breast cancer. In addition there is a significant increase in the effect of cancer on women’s quality of life. Conclusion: The study concluded that there is a significant relation between the quality of life of women with breast cancer and age, education, residence, working status, income, and number of children. Breast cancer had a negative effect on all dimensions of quality of life. Recommendations: The study recommended to Increase level of awareness among women regarding issues of breast cancer using all available mass media as posters, magazine, and brochure, establish of outreach program for student nurses about early detection of breast cancer and its treatment, and further study is necessary to identify factors affecting quality of life for women with breast cancer
