Impact of three extracts from wastes on fecundity, fertility, fraction protein and acid phosphatase pattern of the cotton leaf worm Spodoptera littoralis

Abstract


This study was conducted under laboratory conditions to evaluate some biological aspects (fecundity and fertility) of the adult Spodoptera littoralis treated as 4th instar larvae by Cyano acetyl urea (CAU), Benzimidazolyl acetyl urea (BAU) extracted from urea and Cyano acetyl hydrolyzate (CAH) derived from rice straw. Moreover, the effects of these compounds on fraction protein profile and acid phosphatase pattern were estimated on 6th instar larvae (treated as 4th instars).
The results indicated that fecundity and fertility of the morphologically normal moths were decreased and the oviposition deterrent index (O.D.I) was increased with increasing of the extracts concentrations. Electrophoretic studies showed distinguishable patterns between treated samples and the control by the appearance and disappearance of certain protein fractions and differences in the activities of the tested enzyme. Fraction protein profile showed a maximum number of 61 bands, at approximately molecular weight ranging between 313.53 and 4.14. The genetic distance between control and treated samples with LC25, LC50 and LC70 doses of (CAU), (BAU) and (CAH) were (0.54, 0.71, 0.55),(0.44, 0.60, 0.64), (0.69, 0.53, 0.7), respectively. Thirty seven acid phosphatase bands were recognized in treated and untreated samples with Rf values ranged between 0.02 and 0.94. The genetic distance between LC25, LC50 and LC70 of (CAU), (BAU) and (CAH) treated samples and their control were (0.67, 0.87, 0.76, 0.37, 0.25, 0.47, 0.60, 0.86, 0.76), respectively.
