Quality of life among women with uterine fibroids

Abstract

Nowadays, the health related quality of life has received increased attention as an important outcome measure for women with uterine fibriods.Aim of the study:this study aimed to assess quality of life of women with symptomatic uterine fibroids. Research design:this study design was descriptive one.Setting of the study:the study was conducted as out patient clinics and gynecological departments of three hospital on Benha setting setting which include (Benha university hospital,Banha teaching hospital and Benha health insurance hospital).Sample size:convienet sample consist of 100 women with symptomatic uterine fibroids for period of time 6 months .Tools: interviewing questionnaire tools were designed for data collections .Results: show that (43%) of studied sample had poor knowledge score about uterine fibroids .while (83%) of studied sample had poor quality life score with uterine fibroids .there was a statistical significant relation between total uterine fibroids knowledge score and total quality of life scores Conclusion: the result had shown poor knowledge about uterine fibroids and poor quality life score .the study highlighted that significant relations were detected between total knowledge score and total quality of life score . Recommendations :the study recommended the development of health educational program about healthy life style including adequate hygiene ,health diet , proper exercise,activity and rest patterns and continuous follow up health status of women with uterine fibroids
