Abstract

The present investigation deals with the effect of different doses of Amitriptyline hydrochloride ( Tryptizol) Mother hens (Dokki,4) weighing from 1.0 -1.7 kg ,were divided into four groups . The first one represented acontrol group . The other three , cited as experimental groups ,were treated by tryptizol drug at dose of 0.7 , 1, and 1.3 mg /kg body weight throughout 8 weeks of experimentation .
In the current work , animals from the three experimental groups revealed general weakness, sedation, prostration, dryness of mouth, alopecia with allergic reactions of the skin and disturbance in the egg production rate .Central nervous system symptoms included ataxia and twisting of the distal part of the hind limbs . Also changes in the eye shape and blindness were observed .Marked reductions in the egg production were recorded throughout the last four weeks of tryptizol treatment . Such effects were foude to be directly
Proportional to the increase of the dose used .
The experimental mother hens showed the percentage decreased in body weigts reaching 8.28%,11.71% in the low large doses, respectively .
Water and lipide contents ,in each of liver and intestine, showed marked increase in the three treated groups in comparison with control one .Also ,water content in the heart increased .
Congenital anomalies were shown among the examined chick embryos .This include reduction in the body weight , excencephly and eye deformity , scoliosis, edema , umbilical hernia and emberyos with unconsumed yolk sacs, alopecia in some of the chick embryos, white patches appeared as an accumulative material in the adipose tissue under the skin , and lack of ossification. Histological studies of the organs showed that liver damage was evident in the form of vacillations and fatty degeneration in hepatocytes and dilatation in sinusoidal spaces ,as well as dilatation in centeral veins with inflammatory cell infiltration . Necrosis of the hepatocytes was also shown among some sections . The heart tissues showed that degenerative lesions of the cardiac muscles increased by increase of the administration . These lesions appeared in the foem of necrosis and replacements of the cardiac muscles by fibrous tissue with cell infiltration included
