The clinical Relevance of Non-Coding RNA in Colorectal Cancer
Nehal Samir Abd Elhalim;
Abstract
In Egypt, CRC is a major economic public health problem due to lacking of screening program. The incidence rates/100,000 population of CRC reached up to 3% in Lower, Middle and Upper Egypt for both males and females in 2011 according to NCRP.
The competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) hypothesis states that all types of RNA transcript compete for miRNAs through a ‘language’ mediated by miRNA response elements (MREs). On the basis of this hypothesis, coding and non-coding RNA transcripts shared with MREs are able to actively communicate with each other to regulate their respective expression levels,.
In light of these findings, we used integrative approach based on computational method together with clinical validation to provide great insights into the molecular mechanisms of CRC. To our knowledge, it is the first time to assess a network of gene (L3MBTL1) and a key regulator long non coding RNA (LncRNA RP11-909B2.1)and its target miRNA (miRNA595) retrieved from public databases.
