Shaimaa Mohie Eldin Mohammad Mubarak;
Abstract
The aim of this study is to compare the timing of prophylaxis for caesarean delivery whether preoperatively or after cord clamping and its influence on postoperative infectious morbidity as wound infection, endometritis and urinary tract infection.
The study was conducted in Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital, Cairo, from May 2017 till November 2017.
The study was an interventional prospective randomized controlled clinical trial compared the difference of timing of prophylactic antibiotic 60 & 30 minutes before skin incision and after cord clamping, in preventing post-operative surgical site infection in women undergoing elective cesarean section.
In the results of this study, No statistical difference found in rates of post-operative wound infection, endometritis, or other maternal or neonatal infectious morbidity, between the three groups when antibiotic was received 60, 30 minutes before skin incision & after cord clamping.
