Correlation of Angiographic Findings and Right (V1 -V3) Versus Left (V4-V6) Precordial S-T Segment Depression in Inferior Wall Acute Myocardial Infarction

Abstract

Acute inferior myocardial infarction is accompanied by ST segment depression in precordial leads in approximately one half of patients suffering a first inferior myocardial infarction. Most studies have shown that patients with precordial ST depression have large infarcts as determined by high CK levels, lower left ventricular ejection fraction, and these changes may make the patient prone to more short-long term complications. The aim of this work was to study the value of resting 12- lead surface ECG in patients with inferior wall acute myocardial infarction in predictingthe angiographic findings . (coronary anatomy and left ventricular function) by comparing patients with ST-segment depression in leads V1 to V3 with those with depression in leads V4 to V6. Sixty patients with first acute inferior myocardial infarction were included in our study.
