Prevalence of Dental Caries among a Group of Preschool Children in EL-Mansoura City

Abstract
This study was planned to assess caries prevalence among primary school students ( three to less than six years old) in EL-Mansoura City,(one of Egypt governorates).Twenty puplic and privet preschools were selected from El- Mansoura City acoording to given permission.
This cross- sectional study was carried out on 1320Egyptian Pre- School Children 623 girls and 697 boys whose age ranges between 3 to less than 6 Years Old. Acoording to prevalence of dmf these children were categorized in 6 groups ., Group 1 dmf=0 , Group 2 dmf= 1 to 3 , Group 3 dmf=4 to 6 , Group 4 dmf= 7 to 9 , Group 5 dmf=10 to 12 , group 6 dmf=13 to 15.
In order to investigate oral health, dietary practice and utilization of dental services. Data were collected through a questionnaire-based survey. Seventeen items structured closed ended questionnaire in a trial to assess their ages, gender, eating habits, oral hygiene measures and parent education level.
Clinical examination was done in the class rooms while the child was sitting on the ordinary chair in the day light. The examination was exclusively visual with help of a mirror and probe, using a normal chair and facing daylight and dmf was recorded using examination chart, the examination was done according to WHO, criteria and methods.
