Abstract


Ischemic heart disease is a process characterized by regional rather than by global left ventricular dysfunction (GaJ'Cia-Fernandez et af;. 1999).
Pulsed Doppler tissue imaging analysis of the regional myocardial diastolic function is a useful method to detect the number and location of the myocardial segments involved in.
the process of single or multi-vessel coronary artery disease
(Garda-Fernandez et af;. 1996). • •
In this study, we sought to find the accuracy of pulsed wave Doppler tissue imaging to detect the diastolic dysfunction in those with ischemic heart disease. We examined thirty patients with proved coronary artery disease as shown on coronary angiography, and ten control subjects. All of the forty patients were subjected to the following:
1- Full history evaluation.
2- Full clinical examination.
3- Twelve-lead surface ECG.
4- Coronary angiography.
5- A transthoracic echocardiographic examination of the global diastolic, global and regional systolic parameters.
6- Pulsed wave Doppler tissue imaging of the 16-segment left ventricular model to detect, the early (e), late (a) peak myocardial velocities, the regional e/a ratio, and the regional isovolumetric relaxation time (RIVRD.
We then compared these velocities between the affected segments, and the non-affected segments in the ischemic patients. We then compared these results to the segments of the control group.
