Abstract

Mycoplasmas are fastidious slow growing organisms lacking cell wall and mostly isolated from mucosal surface of the respiratory tract. Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Mycoplasma synoviae are the most pathogenic and highly significant. They are unaffected by antibiotics that target cell wall synthesis, such as penicillin. The rapid and accurate diagnosis of Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Mycoplasma synoviae in poultry is considered one of the most important tools used for the controlling the respiratory disease caused by Mycoplasma.
