Middle Cerebral to Umbilical artery Doppler ratio and amniotic fluid volume measurement in postdated pregnancies
Amr Abd-elhalem Abd-elghaffar Habib;
Abstract
Postdate pregnancy is defined as the one that persists for 41 completed weeks or more.
Postdate pregnancies account for about 5 – 10 % of the deliveries and are known to be associated with increased risk for perinatal complications.
Maternal risks of post-term pregnancies include increased operative delivery, postpartum hemorrhage and maternal puerperal infection. In addition, post-term pregnancies are associated with considerable psychological morbidity. The pregnancy is perceived by many women as becoming high risk once the estimated date of confinement is passed; this leads to increased maternal anxiety.
